Core engineering calculations of the technical
design (Sea Tech & Partners):
1. Structural Analysis
Development of the primary structure in collaboration with the
Department of Structural Design Theory (Prof. S.N. Girin). Foil
design optimization and weight reduction (Sea Tech).
2. Hydrodynamic Calculations
The
resistance curve and required propulsion power were calculated
using a 3-step method:
1) Recalculation based on self-propelled
model tests, adjusted for historical data of domestic and foreign
hydrofoils;
2) Optimization of source data using AutoWing software (G. Migeotte,
South Africa);
3) Verification through CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) based on
Step 2 data (OpenFoam, University of Rostock, Germany);
4) Validation through tank testing
(G. Migeotte, South Africa).
3. Aerodynamics
Aerodynamic drag calculations - OpenFoam (Sea Tech).
