KS-type boats — shallow-draft planing waterjet vessels —
were originally developed by the Kostroma Marine Engineering
Plant Design Bureau, based on German logging tug prototypes. The
plant has been producing various modifications of these boats
for a long time. Following the Kostroma plant, similar vessels (the
Transal type) began to be manufactured by AKS-Invest. Both KS
and Transal boats have gained widespread recognition, proving
themselves on Russian rivers as affordable, multi-purpose
watercraft with excellent operational characteristics,
maintaining steady market demand.
Responding to client requests for similar vessels (shallow-draft,
planing, with good seakeeping in choppy waters, and 10–14 meters
in length), Sea Tech has developed a range of technical
proposals and projects. These include the ST11 utility boat, as
well as the Eger and Ohta boats in
various configurations.
