Project AY-15 (motor yacht
OTTER)
is the result
of a collaborative effort by an international team of
shipbuilders, including specialists from Sea Tech, commissioned
by Mr.
Alexander
Obidin.
The yacht’s exterior is a joint creation between the Sea Tech
Naval Design Studio and Scott Blee, the lead designer of the
Australian firm SABDES Yacht Design.
For Project AY-15, a specialized hull geometry was utilized —
the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). Unlike conventional
round-bilge hulls, this "high-speed displacement" design
requires significantly less energy to maintain high speeds. Due
to reduced wave resistance, the vessel maintains superior
performance across the entire speed range. Consequently, this
results in an extended cruising range, lower fuel consumption,
and reduced emissions. Further advantages of the FDHF include
enhanced maneuverability, superior comfort, and improved
seakeeping with a significant reduction in roll amplitude.
